Omaha, the state’s largest city, offers homes with an average list price of $145,000 in its metropolitan area. A 30-year jumbo loan here can range from 4.89 to 5.39 percent APR. In contrast, a 30-year fixed mortgage for a smaller amount has rates of 4.10 to 4.56 percent APR.

The capital city of Lincoln has seen home prices increase recently. The average list price of a home in the city’s metropolitan area is $129,900. This makes Lincoln one of the more affordable state capitals. As in Omaha, the 30-year fixed mortgage is available for as low as 4.10 percent.

North Platte is located in the state’s southwestern region. Its rates for the 30-year fixed mortgage reflect those of Omaha and Lincoln, while the national average is 4.37 percent. A 15-year fixed mortgage may range from 3.42 to 3.93 percent APR in North Platte. $129,000 is the average list price of a home here.

Located in the Nebraska Panhandle, Scottsbluff has lower home prices than it did a year ago. A home in the Scottsbluff region has an average list price of $125,000. The low for a 15-year fixed mortgage is 3.42 percent, while the national average is 3.48 percent.

Chadron is located in the state’s northwestern section. The average sale price of a home here is $84,000. A 5/1 adjustable rate mortgage may range from 2.97 to 3.28 percent APR in Chadron. A 5/1 ARM in Lincoln is available for the same rate.

Another area of northern Nebraska is the Valentine-Elsmere region in Cherry County. The low for a 5/1 ARM is 2.97 percent APR here and the national average is 3.07 percent. Home buyers can also find a 7/1 ARM with rates of 3.18 to 3.45 percent.

For buyers interested in village life, the Homer-Wynot area is in the northeastern portion of the state. The rates for fixed mortgages here are the same as for other portions of Nebraska.
